Southern Tanzania is made up of The Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve, Ruaha, and Saadani, with the capital of Tanzania, Dar es Salaam also in Southern Tanzania and the starting point for your safari – please click on the links to see our list of recommended camps and lodges in each section, although of course we can deal with whichever lodge or camp you like, all of our holidays are tailor made from start to finish.

Southern Tanzania safaris are wilder than the North, with far fewer camps and lodges, and a completely different landscape of rocky outcrops, rivers, doum palms, open plains, swamps and hot springs. There is plenty of game here, but due to the thicker bush, it can be hard to see, but when it is found, the reward is that much greater. The rare African wild dog are often seen in the Nyerere National Park & Selous for instance, and the beautiful Ruaha National Park feels like the end of the earth.
