Day 1 Arusha
Arrive in Tanzania and make your own way to your hotel in Arusha before meeting your fellow climbers and a full trip briefing.
Day 2 Arusha to Lemosho Forest Camp
Transfer by road to the Londorossi gate and meet your trek porters. Continue along the rainforest track to the trailhead of Lemosho. From here, your trek begins with a steep ascent through the forest to the Lemosho Forest Camp at 2,650m.
Day 3 Lemosho Forest Camp to Shira Plateau
Trek through open moorland as you ascend towards the Shira Plateau. The peak of Kilimanjaro in the distance is sure to be an inspiring sight on what is a challenging day.
Day 4 Shira Plateau
Today is an acclimatisation day. Walk to the summit of Shira Cathedral, surrounded by steep spires and pinnacles for spectacular views of Mount Meru floating on the clouds.
Day 5 Shira Plateau to Barranco Camp
An important day for acclimatisation as the trek gently ascends to 4,500m, before descending back to 3,900m where you’ll spend the night at the Great Barranco Valley. Today’s trek will take you over lava ridges beneath the glaciers of Western Breach to the Lava Tower, known as ‘Shark’s Tooth’.
Day 6 Barranco Camp to Karanga Valley
Climb the Barranco Wall before following the Kibo South Eastern Circuit, where magnificent views of Kibo’s southern icefields await. Spend the afternoon at leisure admiring the surrounding landscape of Karanga Valley.
Day 7 Karanga Valley to Barafu Camp
Head up to the intersection of the South Circuit and the Mweka Route. Ascend to the ridge where Barafu Camp resides. Rest up this afternoon in preparation for reaching the summit tomorrow.
Day 8 Barafu Camp to Millennium Camp via Uhuru Peak
Today marks the highlight of your trek with the summit attempt. After a challenging climb through the night, the ‘roof of Africa’ awaits with spectacular views of the sun rising behind Mawenzi. Trek around the crater rim to Uhuru Peak at 5,895m, before starting the descent back to Millennium Camp at 3,800m.
Days 9-10 Millennium Camp to Arusha
Continue the descent to the park gate before a transfer back to the hotel. Spend your final day at leisure before your onward travel.
